India Donates at YouthSpark 2014

When I received confirmation about "India Donates" selection I felt really ecstatic as it was recognition from people that they believe in what we are doing; also I saw it as a much needed platform to showcase our idea to leader in technology sector. YouthSpark is an initiative by Microsoft in collaboration with Quest Alliance which is aimed at  providing platform for the youth to showcase their ideas aimed at social good, get mentorship and a seed funding to realise their ideas.
This tear YouthSpark received more than 60 entries across India and invited 11 to be part of the event at Bangalore. It was a two day event;1st day was action packed which started with introduction then moved to session on what future technology holds; the way technology would change our lives and ended with feedback from mentors on the ideas. This feedback session really helped us to gather our thoughts and improve on it.
On second day we presented our idea to jury of three people comprising of expert from mobile technology, development sector and enterprise management. Presentation went well and we answered to all the queries of judges satisfactorily. We also made them aware about our expectation from Microsoft in terms of mentorship and seed funding.
This event also introduced us to new ideas and new friends who believes in leveraging technology to create social good. We would interacting with these people regularly. There would be three winners who would be provided seed funding and required technological support. The result will be announced in coming week. Let's hope for the best!!!

Its time to Logout from virtual reality

Technology has brought many comfort to our life but at the expense of what? At the expense of love and compassion between people. It has brought many Connections and Friends virtually but it has separated us from real connections and friends. It has brought us many likes for small things in our lifes but we have forgotten to say it in person because we have watsapp. I remember not very long ago we used to call friends on their birthday at least but now we just send watsapp message. Does that really convey our feelings? What really is missing the feeling of being loved, to care about someone, to genuinely feel happy in someone's happy moment. It is not that we don't call but we call to those only we feel very close why should be that case can't we have bigger friend circle like we had during our college days.
Nowadays when we meet friends, we don't have much to share because we already shares it on facebook, watsapp and twitter so when we meet, get involved with the phone and even though we are with people we are not there. It bothers me that virtual world has taken so much space in our life that we don't have enough for the people we should care. Lets start being with the real people and not virtual. Lets treat technology as a add on to life and not the life because life is outside technology, with friends, with people we care and you never know an unknown person become love of your life.

PS: I am also part technology slave community but I am trying to get out of it.
